Going With the Flow

The levels of consciousness we pass through on our journeys of self-discovery are very important to assessing your stages of growth. Recently, getting back in touch with the balance of life has been quite difficult.
I’ve been drawing on experiences to find where I fall on Wilbur’s spectrum of consciousness. I would say that I fall somewhere in the middle, as an average of Magenta and Green. Wilber has some interesting points about the levels of consciousness. According to Integral Without Borders, the streams of consciousness are revealed through cognition, values, and self-identity.

Each of the colors stand for something different. They are grouped by egocentric, ethnocentric, and cosmocentric from warm to cool colors (respectively). People with magenta are lower on the scale of consciousness because they are more ego centric. Magenta is more inclined to be impulsive, and their allegiance lies with superstitions, seasonal cycles, kinship, and lineage.
I placed myself in Magenta along the spectrum because I have a strong tendency to treat everyone as family, as if they were a part of my tribe. They also have a strongly rooted belief in mystical signs. I believe in the universe and fate to guide me more so than my own choices.
I chose to expand upon the other color which I identified the most with; however, I’m not sure if I chose them because I recently had my aura read by a psychic. She said that it was white and green, which is odd because most people only have one color. These colors stand for something entirely different than the spectrum, but I thought there might be a connection.
Love to Know says that a “white aura is so special, that when seen it is typically of a newborn or a young child” and it is the color that “a person who has achieved enlightenment and established a strong connection with the divine.” I can relate to this because I often connect with the universe on another level. However, I realize this makes me sound like a crazy person.
By “connecting with the universe,” I mean that I actively take the time out of my day to reflect and meditate on the day and ask for help from the universe from poetry books and by listening to mood music instead of music that is random.
The other color in my aura represents life and healing, according to Love to Know. It could mean that I have recently undergone some healing or that I need to be healed. A weak and pale light green symbolizes someone who may be seeking healing on a physical, mental, or spiritual level. Which would make sense, considering the stages of personal growth I have yet to go through. On the other hand, it could have been misinterpreted as pale green and may actually be a light yellow-green. This represents communication, whether it be marketing or a discussion. I may be an actor, writer, or salesperson.
I also connected with the cosmologically inclined beliefs of those who are green on the spectrum because I wholeheartedly believe in equality and community, which is how I landed in the Public Relations Program at Ferris State. Making important connections with the community surrounding a company is essential to having a successful company. Along with making sure that their mission statement lines up with what they are actually doing.
The green people are in touch with feelings, caring, and sensitivity to others and the environment. I chose this color to expand upon because their core values line up with mine. They seek harmony, reconciliation, and human development. This can be seen in my desire to make the world a better place by recycling

everything; my thoughts about the universe lead me to take care of the Earth as it takes care of us. The green can also be seen in my work ethic when it comes to working on myself and working with others. My green traits help me often when I am trying to be the Peacemaker (Enneagram Personality Test).
Through these tests and readings on myself, I have a better sense of who I am as a person. Identifying with each color is a good gauge of Where you are at vs. Where you should be on the tiers of self-actualization. Wilber’s levels of consciousness are more like a probability wave than a stream. Hence, going with the flow. It is a reminder that these are simply a gauge. It has the potential to grow, shrink, and adapt to the environment regardless of the constant values of my consciousness.
Yours truly,
Jessica Ferrucci
